RM Williams not on Oroton's shopping list

12 Mar, 2010 09:20 AM
LUXURY goods retailer OrotonGroup is on the lookout for possible acquisitions but has quashed speculation it is considering buying iconic bootmaker RM Williams.

Oroton chief executive Sally Macdonald said the group was keeping an eye out for possible brands that would add value to Oroton, but specifically ruled out acquiring or even working with RM Williams.

"It's a heritage brand, like Vegemite, but the business doesn't appear to be in strong financial shape from the outside," she told The Australian Financial Review.

"It would very much have to be the right price for us to be interested."
