Rain for most of NSW during the next week

Rain for most of NSW during the next week

29 May, 2009 07:29 AM
WHILE this week's forecast NSW northern coastal showers will not make it over the ranges to western NSW, a separate system coming in from the west will bring rain to inland parts of the state early next week.

At this stage most of western NSW can expect around 10mm, according to WeatherZone. Unfortunately the lightest falls will probably go to the state's southern inland where the drought is at its most severe.

Flood affected parts of the NSW coast are likely to receive showers on most days during the next week but thankfully falls will remain incomparable to the record braking deluge of last week.

Isolated showers will develop along most of the NSW coast on Friday, as fresh southerly winds push north, and become scattered during the weekend.

Between now and the middle of next week, however, there is a chance of as much as 40mm in the Hunter, but generally falls will be about 10 to 20mm.

Wind will also reach a peak on the weekend, but strengths are unlikely to reach much above 50km/h, well below the 100km/h gust from last week.

It's been a good week for rain over much of the southern Australian wheatbelt, as this BoM rain map for the week ended 9am Thursday shows. Click on the map to enlarge it. More rain is expected over the weekend and into next week, especially in western NSW and southern Qld..
