RSPCA cruelty case dismissed

20 Dec, 2011 07:26 AM
A COURT has dismissed a complaint of alleged animal cruelty against the NSW president of the RSPCA.

Magistrate Dennis Burdett dismissed the complaint yesterday, stating that the complainant, Gary Young, did not have the state government's go-ahead to proceed.

Mr Young claims Peter Wright, was cruel through negligence when he performed dental work on a horse at Goulburn earlier this year.

"We've got a horse dribbling pus out of its mouth.

"I think it's negligence, total negligence," he said outside court.

Dr Wright denies all claims.

Mr Young - who represented himself in court - said that he may now turn to the Supreme Court.

Am I missing something?

Since when has it been necessary for the State Gov't to give the go-ahead before a case can proceed?
