TWYNAM CEO, Christine Campbell, is saying little about the historic $300m sale of water to the Federal Government, and avoided media questions by declaring it the government's "day in the sun".
Ms Campbell spent yesterday with the company's staff in Dubbo, in Central West NSW.
When contacted by FarmOnline, she would not say how much this decision would impact on the company's activities, what proportion the sold water makes up of Twynam's overall entitlements, and which areas would lose most water.
Ms Campbell said the company's website and the Government's press release contained all she was prepared to say on the deal for the time being, adding it was the Government's "day in the sun" and not a time for her to be speaking about the deal.
She said the Government has a program in place to purchase water for the environment, and a substantial amount had today been sold as part of that program.
She said the purchase of water would be spread across Twynam's land holdings throughout the State.
Ms Campbell promised to speak to the media further next week, but wanted to instead spend today with staff to work through issues surrounding the sale.
