The current acting chief executive officer (CEO) of Wheat Exports Australia (WEA), Peter Woods, has been appointed CEO.
WEA regulates the export of bulk wheat from Australia, following the phasing out of wheat's single export desk.
The group's chairman, Ted Woodley, announced the appointment after yesterday’s board meeting.
Mr Woods has been acting CEO during the legislative change and transitional arrangements from the Wheat Export Authority to the Export Wheat Commission and recently to Wheat Exports Australia.
He has worked in the rural sector for more than 30 years – as a farm manager, lecturer, consultant and co-operative CEO.
He joined the former Wheat Export Authority in 2005 as the
senior manager, performance monitoring.
