17 Nov, 2008 05:03 PM
Queensland-based family-owned company Tractor Imports now holds the the exclusive Australian importing and distribution rights for the TYM range of Korean-built tractors.

The announcement coincided with the unveiling of its 2009 TYM 3 series to selected dealers on the Gold Coast.

Officiating on the day were Mr H Y Kim, the chairman of the Korean public company Tong Yang Moolsan which makes 10,000 tractors a year through its TYM tractor division, and Tractor Imports’ founder, Colin Wilkinson.

They underscored TYM’s thriving export programme which sees the marque sold extensively throughout major international markets, particularly the USA.

Its production volumes place TYM within Asia’s top 10 tractor manufacturers, according to Mr Wilkinson.

"The quality of their manufacture, finish and individual model features is most impressive and will make them a preferred tractor choice for small property owners, contractors, all types of farm enterprises and local government agencies throughout Australia," he said.

The new 2009 range known as the TYM 3 series will be available in 10 different model choices, ranging from the 16.9kW (23hp) T233 up to the 74kW (99.2hp) T1003.

The intermediate models span the 26kW to 56kW (35hp to 75hp) power sector.

Most will be delivered with either an approved ROPS structure or an approved self-contained cab, independent pto for working slashers, mid-mount mowers, grader blades, or similar. As well, they can accommodate front end loaders.

The smaller horsepower models are powered by Mitsubishi indirect injection diesel engines while all the models above 35hp use four-cylinder Caterpillar diesel engines.

Transmissions are mostly synchronous shuttles with ranges from 16 to 24, rising to 32 forward and reverse ranges as the individual horsepower of the models increases.

Standard mechanical features include wet brakes and hydrostatic steering.

Models are also available ex factory with a choice of industrial or agricultural tyres with the new TYM 3 series painted in a striking red colour scheme.

"The TYM tractor range will come in at a very competitive price point - exactly as they have done in major international markets where the quality and reliability of the TYM brand is unquestioned," Mr Wilkinson said.

"The TYM group regards Australia as an important market opportunity, particularly as the initial models sold here were so well received that they are fully committed to supporting our appointment."
