The latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows a decline in sales of Australian wine both at home and abroad, but export sales are improving.
According to the ABS, the trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced wine was 35.9 million litres in March 2008, a decrease of 0.5pc from February 2008.
The seasonally adjusted estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced wine was 34.7mt in March 2008, a decrease of 2.2pc on February 2008.
The ABS trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian produced white wine fell by 0.5pc to 17.5ML this month, 2.8pc lower than the same time last year, while the trend estimate for domestic sales of Australian-produced red and rosé wine was steady compared with last month but 3.4pc lower than March 2007.
The ABS says exports of Australian-produced wine increased by 23.4pc this month to 57.8ML, which was worth $219.3 million.
Australia exported 738ML valued at $2.8 billion in the 12 months to March 2008, but this was a decrease of 6.8pc in volume and a decrease of 0.8pc in value.
