CHARTERS TOWERS Combined Agents yarded a total of 1522 cattle consisting of 326 prime cattle and 1196 store cattle with the prime contingent made up of 39 bullocks, 70 heifers, 193 cows and 25 bulls.
Prime Cattle comprised of small lines of mixed quality cows, with insufficient bullocks to quote. The yarding was drawn from Mt Garnet, Julia Creek, Georgetown, local and coastal areas.
Bullocks were unchanged, heifers were 4c dearer, and cows were unchanged on last week's rates.
Bullocks topped at 148c/kg, for 11 head sold by G and R Myles, Cargoon, that weighed 541kg to return $802 per head while the best priced trade heifers were presented by CF Knuth, Nonda West, which made 139c/kg to weigh 413kg and return $574 per head.
The top pen of Cows were sold by Archer Rural, Glen Ruth, for 127c/kg, weighed 480kg to return $611 per head.
Bulls sold by JD and J Berryman, Windsor, topped at 127c/kg and weighed 800kg to return $1017 per head.
The store cattle mainly consisted of two large lines of good quality steers and heifers as well as small lots of good cattle drawn from local and coastal areas and were made up of 767 steers, 429 heifers.
A pen of 12 steers sold by S and J Neal made 145c/kg and weighed 371kg and realised $541 per head while a line of 612 steers presented by Wrotham Park averaged 138c/kg and averaged $363 per head
A good pen of five heifers sold by D and R Young made 144c/kg, weighed 206kg and returned a good average of $297 per head while a line of 141 heifers presented by L and P Solari averaged 118c/kg for 326 kg and realized $383.
Cows and calves sold by E and N Gallagher, Normanton returned $455 per unit.
