LOCATED a little over 100km south of Hughenden and 85km north of Winton, the tiny outback community of Corfield will come alive on August 3-4 for the renowned Corfield Races.
On Friday, August 3, festivities begin at the Corfield Sports Club with a meet and greet, which has a reputation of partying well into the night.
The big day is the Saturday with a five and possibly six-race program planned.
Racegoers can enjoy catered meals throughout the day, and there will be plenty provided to keep the kids occupied.
There will also be plenty of action for the grown-ups. Apart from some great country racing, golfing 'would-bes' will have an opportunity throughout the day to win some of the $3000 prizemoney in the nearest-the-pin chipping competition.
The first prize purse is a whopping $1000, and clubs and balls are provided. Tickets for a monster raffle will be sold throughout the racing program and will be drawn during the hoedown that night.
A recovery breakfast will help with the hangovers on the Sunday morning and a lunch will be served at the Corfield Sports Club.
