AS THE rain gradually eases from New South Wales, it continues to hammer parts of Queensland with falls over 200mm in some areas.
One of the hardest hit areas was the Central Coast, where many areas received over 100mm in a 24 hour period. Mackay was one of those that soared past the 100mm mark, receiving a total of 128mm and as much as 15mm in ten minutes. This makes it their wettest day in nine months and 19 years for December.
Other areas hit hard in the Central Coast district included Mirani, which saw 212mm and their wettest day in nearly three years. Doraville saw 94mm, making it their highest December rainfall in nine years.
Elsewhere around Queensland there were localised areas of heavy rain bringing well deserved relief to drought stricken regions. In the Maranoa, Bollon saw their heaviest December rain in 122 years of records with 116mm.
Rockhampton continued to see heavy falls after picking up 81mm the previous day. They saw as much as 8mm in ten minutes with another 48mm in total.
Areas of heavy rain and storms are continuing again today and there are no signs of this wet weather clearing the state over the next week.
