Home-made bomb explodes in teenager's face

30 Dec, 2009 06:57 AM
A ROCKHAMPTON teenager suffered severe chemical burns last night when a home-made bomb exploded in a wheelie-bin.

The 18-year-old was emptying rubbish into a wheelie-bin outside his Plahn Street home about 8pm when he noticed an unusual bottle containing liquid.

When the man moved the bottle it exploded in his face causing severe chemical burns to his eyes and a deep laceration to one hand. He also suffered a broken wrist.

He is due to undergo surgery at the Rockhampton Base Hospital. It is not known whether the man will lose his eyesight.

Police are investigating the incident.
