Goomeri cattleman and current vice president John Cotter will succeed Peter Kenny as president of broadacre lobby group AgForce in September.

Emerald producer Ian Burnett has been elected as vice president, while Toogoolawah grazier Charles Burke continuing as vice president/treasurer.

AgForce holds biennial elections across its commodities and regions run by the Electoral Commission of Queensland.

"Ian Burnett operates an irrigation and cattle enterprise at Emerald and spearheaded January’s massive flood recovery effort, therefore we look forward to working with Ian in this new role as vice president of AgForce," AgForce chief executive officer Brett de Hayr said.

"Representing our commodities, AgForce Sheep & Wool Board has a new president in Brent Finlay, a fine wool producer from Dalveen in south-east Queensland, while Greg Brown was re-elected as AgForce Cattle president and Lyndon Pfeffer as AgForce Grains president."

The AgForce State Council has several new faces including Southern Inland Queensland representative John Mulckey, from Bungunya; Central Queensland representatives Michael Mactaggart, Moura, and Peter Mifsud, Clermont; North Queensland representative John Gillies, Proserpine; and South East Queensland representatives John Agnew, Allora, and Neville Galloway, Monto.

"These new elected representatives join continuing State Councillors: North – Greg McNamara, Eileen Nixon, Laurie Taylor; Central – Joy Deguara, Christine Rolfe; South East – Peter McIntosh, Bill Nicholas, Alex O’Neill; Southern Inland – Mary Crouch, Lloyd Harth; South West – Darcy Volz, Tricia Agar."

The new State Council will meet for the first time at AgForce’s annual general meeting which will be held as part of this year’s AgForce State Conference in Proserpine on September 18.

"On behalf of AgForce, I would like to welcome all new elected representatives and thank those retiring from various positions in the organisation for their efforts and support," Mr de Hayr said.

"We particularly thank outgoing president Peter Kenny for the tireless work and highly effective leadership he has provided for AgForce during the past four years and know that he will continue to service the broadacre sector in other ways, such as his current role as chair of the social impacts drought review at the behest of Federal Agriculture Minister Tony Burke."
