THE ABCRA National Junior Finals Rodeo in Tamworth were staged during January where the top 15 competitors in each event Australia-wide entered.
The event was run over three rounds (three nights from January 21-24 and Charters junior rodeo competitors did the North proud.
Jace Land qualified in the 11-U14 steer ride, 11-U14 barrel race and 8-U18 junior breakaway roping, while Shaye Land qualified in the U11 barrel race.
Jace came away with the under-18 ABCRA National Australian Junior All-round Cowboy title for 2011, as well as the finals average all-round Cowboy under 18.
Jace placed third in the first round of barrel racing, first in the second round of junior breakaway roping (which was also the fastest time recorded over the finals 2.5 seconds to win a horse rug), he placed third in the third round of barrel racing and rode two out of three of his steers.
Shaye placed fifth in the first round of barrel racing, first in the second round and would have been second in the third round but unfortunately knocked over the first barrel.
Shaye finished the season third in the Under-18 all-round cowgirl standings and this year she is hoping to make it to Tamworth in more than one event.
Both have been competing since they were three years old.
