A total of 9500 head of cattle were yarded and prices for most categories strengthen during the sale.

The Roma Store Index rose 2.1 points to 103.5 points this week.

Cloncurry’s Walter Robertson sold the highest priced steers of the sale. The 474kg Brahman-cross steers made 179c/kg to return $850/head.

Overall, heavy steers gained six cents this week to top at 187c/kg.

Feeder steers earned 187c/kg, up four cents, and weaners reached 216c/kg, eight cents higher than last week's rates.

Heifers also sold to a dearer trend, except for weaners which saw heifers under 220kg fall 11c/kg from last week's rates to return 198c/kg.

Heavy heifers topped at 176c, up 11 cents, while lighter types made between 161c to 180c.
