LNP Deputy Leader Lawrence Springborg said Mrs Kiernan was currently under siege for forwarding an email raising concerns over the Bligh Labor Government's asset sales from a constituent back to her employer, which resulted in the constituent being sacked.

"In the ultimate act of Stalinist suppression of dissent and freedom of speech, Big Bill has now stepped in to silence the local Labor rank and file and stop them questioning Mrs Kiernan over her act of retribution against the constituent," Mr Springborg said.

"Who's looking after the workers while Big Bill is looking after those who get them sacked?

"Big Bill is now running the ultimate protection racket, propping up the duds and the unpopular as he guards his closest allies in the Bligh Labor Government's dishonest public assets sell-off campaign."

Mr Springborg said Mr Ludwig's involvement in the dispute between Mrs Kiernan and her local ALP branch sent a clear message that dissent in the ALP would not be tolerated.

"Mrs Kiernan acted out of revenge when she dobbed in a constituent who had the temerity to question Bligh and Labor's flawed decision to have a fire-sale of state assets," Mr Springborg said.

"Mrs Kiernan's act of spite has since cost that constituent her job and has justifiably angered members of the Mount Isa ALP branch, who obviously hold a more traditional Labor view of democracy and continue to believe in workers' rights.

"This may not be the first time Mrs Kiernan has apparently taken it upon herself to dob in a constituent who annoyed her, and it is appropriate she should explain her reasons for doing so to those who believe they hold the power over her pre-selection.

"Instead, she has gone to ground, refusing to speak to the media or her local ALP branch, only issuing a press release carefully scripted for her by Anna Bligh's office in Brisbane and no doubt vetted by the ALP's No.1 enforcer, Big Bill Ludwig," he said.
