THEAustralian Government again did not send a representative to the Fruit and Vegetable Conference in Berlin.
Billed as the world's leading trade fair for the fruit and vegetable business the conference is the leading meeting place of the fresh produce trade.
LNP candidate for the seat of Kennedy, Ed Morison, said that over 2000 companies from around the world attended including all the major global players.
"Once again the Rudd Government and the Local Member neglected the North in their apparent forgetfulness to send any Australian Government representative to a Fruit and Vegetable Conference in Berlin. Ed Morrison said.
"The fruit and vegetable industry brings millions of dollars to our Northern economy and helps to feed our country."
Coalition Senator Macdonald said the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade were invited to the trade fair in Berlin.
"120 countries go to this event, but our Government showed little interest in what is a crucial event for the fruit and vegetable industry in Australia," Senator Macdonald said.
Mr Morrison said it was unbelievable that our Trade Representatives are located just down the road in Berlin and couldn't go for a walk to support Australian industry.
"It is ironic that we can send 114 Australian Officials to Copenhagen to get a Great Big New Tax but we can't send even one person to get information to help our local farmers," Mr Morrison said.
