GI BRAHMAN Stud, owned by Ron, Grace and Kelvin Harriman, will be offering a line of five red polled bulls for the 2012 Big Country sale as lots 6-10, and three grey bulls as lots 101-103.
In recent years, polled bulls have become more and more desirable.
The Harrimans have focused on breeding polled cattle for more than 30 years and have not used a horned bull in that period.
So it's good to know that there's years of polled genetics behind the bulls they sell, with at least 10 out of 14 lines of polls in the breeding of all the bulls offered for sale.
The Harrimans have concentrated on keeping bone, purity and beef quality in their herd, with success in the northern and central west shows over the years.
The Harrimans also sell bulls at the Ray White Invitational Sale and Gold City Sale, where they topped the reds and topped the sale average.
They also have paddock bulls for sale.
The family have a Pompe's disease-free herd and the bulls have been vaccinated for tick fever (three-germ), pestivirus, seven-in-one and three-day sickness.
The bulls are all tested negative to pestivirus.
They will be semen-tested, and evaluated for morphology and soundness before the sale.
The bulls have all been HornPoll tested with three bulls showing 99 percent PP.
The first four red bulls are by Lanes Creek Galaxy (Tartrus Gallant 3411) and the other is by Myrtledale Duke (Milky Pines TC Duke).
The grey bulls are all by GI Cavalier (Tropical Cattle Sam).
These red and grey bulls are well worth an inspection by stud or commercial breeders alike.
