New team at helm of Katherine Cattle Yards

16 Mar, 2010 10:48 AM
KATHERINE Cattle Yards have a new management team to begin its second year of operation.

Local beef producer Danny Groves has been hired as the depot manager, with Noelene Chellingworth, formerly from Noonamah Export Yards, as administration manager.

Both Danny and Noelene bring many years of experience in all facets of the cattle industry to their respective jobs.

Both have been involved in the cattle and live export industry in the area for many years and are well known to most Top End producers and exporters.

"We had a great first year - much better than we had expected," said owner Steve Bakalian. There was also a bit of a learning curve for all involved.

"We are now looking forward to fine tuning the operation and continuing to grow all aspects of the business."

New manager Danny Groves is confident that these yards can be the best around and service both the cattle producer and exporter.

"These yards have great facilities. I think there are a lot of people who just don't realise that they can be used and can compete with the yards in Darwin."

Mr Groves has not only worked on many of the NT's largest stations, but has also worked for exporters.

His knowledge of cattle and the industry will serve the customers of Katherine Cattle Yards well.

Noelene Chellingworth has the office side of things well in hand. She has 11 years of experience as office administrator at one of the NT's busiest export yards.

Noelene knows the trucking and cattle sides of the business and can assure all customers of accurate handling of their accounts and is also on top of the AQIS and NLIS side of things.
