NOT only can the Wilangi Invitation Brahman Sale lay claim to be Australia's biggest Grey Brahman sale selection, but records from the 2008 sale reinforce the event's claims of being the best 'value for money' bull-buying auction sale conducted during the spring bull selling season.
Northern bull buyers have their final Charters Towers opportunity to invest in quality grey Brahman stud sires, herd bulls and stud heifers at this year's Wilangi Invitation Sale scheduled for Thursday night, November 26, and Friday, November 27.
An impressive sale selection of 100 stud sires, 190 beef builder herd bulls and 20 stud heifers have been catalogued by Wilangi and invited vendors El-Ja, Brahrock, Raglan, Apis Creek, Wallace and Viva studs for this year's event.
"Because of its huge selection, evenness throughout the offering, and market appealing bloodlines, Wilangi Sale always offers real value for bull buyers," said Ken McCaffrey of McCaffrey's Australian Livestock Marketing.
"It's one of the reasons we see a number of very astute, industry leading cattle producers return to buy at the sale every year."
Mr McCaffrey's observations are backed up by an analysis of last year's Wilangi Sale bull prices.
A total of 202 bulls was sold from $2000 to $3000, a further 30 made $3500 to $4000.
Incredibly, 67 bulls sold at the sale base price of $2000.
"You can see from that the willingness of vendors to meet the market and the exceptional buying value available to both volume buyers and those progressive cattle producers looking for just a few high-quality, beef type bulls to improve herd performance," Mr McCaffrey said.
Ron and Bev White, Wilangi Stud, recognise that 2009 is a tougher year for cattle producers and have ensured that the standard of their sale line-up from start to finish has been lifted to further benefit buyers.
Many of the grey industry's most sought-after sirelines are represented in this year's sale, including Hudgins imports Boswick, Sir Winston, Riddell, Deeds, Mitch, Madison Man, Sydney, Brandon, Mr Brooks, Sir Parker and so on.
