Mount Coolon property Old Hidden Valley in north Queensland has sold at auction for $5.7 million.

The property was bought by Steve Plath, Dooruna Downs, Clermont, Qld, who was successful only after beating off challenges from several parties in what was a very spirited auction event.

Bidding started at $2 million and proceeded steadily with six registered bidders taking part.

Losing bidders were Owen and Lee Scott, Ruan, via Clermont.

Leading the rest of the bidding panel were Jock and Jan Logan from neighbouring property Pyramid, with Graham and Jacinta Little, Bonanza Park, Wandoan close behind.

Other contenders included were George Bartolo, Carrinyah Park, Nebo and Rodney Heading, Charters Towers.

Property vendors were John and Coral Scott and son Gavin who purchased Yacamunda, via Mt Coolon in late 2006 and have since sold Ravenswood district properties Mt Ravenswood and Glenroy for $14.35 million.
