CONSOLIDATED Pastoral Company CEO, Ken Warriner, has told the North Queensland Register exclusively that a deal has been struck on the sale of the Great Southern Plantations property Wrotham Park.
Contracts are presently being exchanged on the sale.
Purchased by Great Southern Plantations in 2006 for $53.5 million, the 600,000ha North Queensland cattle station has been the centre of much controversy since the collapse of Great Southern in May owing a reported $800 million.
In June, Wrotham was passed in at auction for $43m and has since been under intense negotiation.
The contracted price and number of head included in the sale have yet to be revealed but it is expected that a substantial herd is included in the sale.
Mr Warriner told the North Queensland Register that now that the contract had finally been negotiated, Consolidated Pastoral would be able to bring Wrotham Park up to the company’s standard of management.
Wrotham Park was formerly one of the iconic pastoral leases in Northern Australia. The sale of Wrotham Park indicates a re-emergence of confidence on the rural property market in North Queensland and the beef industry.
