30 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
THE Sugar Research and Development Corporation, is calling for nominations for the 2012 Grower

Innovation Awards to acknowledge the significant achievements by cane growers across the industry.

If you know a cane grower who provides outstanding leadership or a group of growers achieving innovative

research on farm, then now is the time to nominate them for an SRDC innovation award.

SRDC Executive Director Annette Sugden said winners will be announced during the Grower Innovation

Virtual Expo (GIVE) to be held from 12th to 14th March 2012 in Yamba NSW.

“It is important to recognise the innovative and ground-breaking work that is being carried out by cane

growers through SRDC’s Grower Group Innovation Program, industry research projects or by individual

growers,” Ms Sugden said.

This year, SRDC will recognise the outstanding work being carried out by growers across the following four

award categories.

Grower Group Innovation Award ($3,500)

Outstanding achievement by a group of growers who have completed an innovative research project.

Grower Group Progress Award ($3,500)

Grower Service to Industry Award ($1,500)

An individual grower who provides outstanding leadership and service to the sugarcane industry.

Project Supporter Award ($1,500)

research project.
